December 17: God So Loved the World | BYU Concert Choir

Back in college, I was taking classes during the summer at the same time trying to plan a big family reunion. I was busy from sun up to well past sun down! The day arrived for the family reunion and I had been up the previous night studying and getting some last minute things prepared. The morning of the reunion I got a call from my brother and he said that his wife had gone into labor and was wondering if I could come get his two boys and take them to the reunion (it was an overnight reunion). I went to pick up the boys, put them in the back seat of the car and headed for our destination. I may have felt a tad overwhelmed. Not from my nephews but from everything combined. I had way too much on my plate that summer.

As we were driving to our destination I remember this song came on my iPod. I listened to the words and the music penetrated my soul. Into my mind I heard Heavenly Father tell me that He loved me. But in my heart, I felt His love for me. What I felt was so much more poignant than what I heard.

A woman named Bonnie D Parkin once said, “If I could have one thing happen for every woman in this church (and I’d add every person in the world), it would be that they would feel the love of God in their lives daily.” I have never forgotten her testimony.

This Christmas, if I could have one thing happen for anybody, it would be that they too could feel the love of God. I am a much different person today because I have felt that love. I want to feel it every day.

Christmas is a great time to come closer to God and find out just how much He loves us.

Some things I like about this arrangement:

  • I love how the arrangement emphasizes “everlasting life” because let’s be honest, that’s what this whole life is about…to earn everlasting life.
  • Each chord is big, full and expressive!
  • I love how the phrases meld so well together.
Feel free to share how you have felt the love of God in your life. Comment below.

God So Loved the World

God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whoso believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
